Reflections – 2013.12

Twas the Night Before Christmas (Psalm 88) – December 2013

“O Lord, God of my salvation;
I cry out day and night to you …
my soul is full of troubles …
I am counted as those who go down to the pit …
Your wrath lies heavy upon me,
and you overwhelm me with waves…
I am shut in so that I cannot escape,
my eye grows dim through sorrow …
I suffer your terrors, I am helpless …
Do you work wonders for the dead?”

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
there was trouble, sorrow, misery, despair,
there was suffering, helplessness, hopelessness, doubt and fear …
and there was prayer … “O Lord, God of my salvation …”

and an answer …
“the people dwelling in darkness
have seen a great light,
and for those dwelling in the regions of the shadow of death,
on them a light has dawned.”

darkness … then dawn …. a Savior is born.
